Meet Dorian Vale
The Experience Behind the Education
“The textbook teaches you what to do. Experience teaches you what to notice.”
I'm Dorian Vale, the voice behind Dorian Vale Clinical—an educational brand built on my firsthand experiences and lessons learned as a working phlebotomist.
Throughout my career, I've learned that becoming a capable phlebotomist involves much more than memorizing the order of draw, recognizing equipment, or learning the steps of venipuncture.
It's about understanding what you're feeling when you assess a vein. Recognizing when something isn't right. Knowing when to proceed, when to reconsider, and when to ask for help. It's also about communicating with patients, handling uncertainty, and learning from experiences that don't always go as planned.
These are the lessons that inspired me to create Dorian Vale Clinical.
I wanted to build something that speaks directly to the questions students sometimes hesitate to ask—the questions that arise when classroom knowledge meets a real patient.
Through educational articles, practical clinical scenarios, and digital study guides, I share my experiences and professional perspective to help students better understand the reasoning behind what they're learning.
I don't believe confidence comes from knowing every answer. I believe it develops through understanding, practice, reflection, and recognizing the limits of what we know.
My goal isn't to replace your instructors, textbooks, or clinical training. It's to offer another perspective—one shaped by years of working with patients and learning from the realities of the profession.
Whether you're preparing for your first clinical rotation, navigating the challenges of being a new phlebotomist, or simply trying to understand the why behind the procedure, I hope you'll find something here that helps you grow.
Welcome to Dorian Vale Clinical.
Beyond knowing what to do. Understand why it matters.
